Types of cookies we use
Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies are required for the Site to function and to remember the choices you make, such as your cookie-consent preferences. They do not require consent because the Site cannot work properly without them.
- Consent / preference storage — when you make a choice in our cookie banner, we save that choice in your browser's local storage (under the key
cv-cookie-consent) so that we remember your decision and don't ask you again on every page. This is set directly by us and contains no personal data. -
Region check — where analytics is permitted without prior consent, we note the resulting decision — whether or not analytics loads for you — in your browser's session storage (under the key
cv-region-consent-free) so we don't have to repeat the check on every page. It is discarded when you close the tab, and is never written for visitors in the UK, the EEA or Switzerland.
Analytics cookies
These cookies help us understand how visitors use the Site — for example, which pages are most popular and how people move through the Site — so we can improve the content and experience. In the UK, the EEA and Switzerland they are set only after you consent; elsewhere they are set by default and you can switch them off at any time with the Manage cookie preferences button below.

These cookies collect information such as the pages you visit, your approximate location, and how long you spend on the Site, in an aggregated and largely anonymised form. Your location and your choices
Different countries take different approaches to analytics cookies, so the Site behaves differently depending on where you are:
- UK, European Economic Area and Switzerland — we ask first. No analytics cookies are set and no analytics scripts are loaded until you choose "Accept" in our cookie banner. If you choose "Reject", or simply ignore the banner, nothing analytics-related is stored on your device.
- Everywhere else — analytics cookies are set when you arrive, and you can turn them off at any time using the button below. Whichever choice you make is remembered on future visits.
- Automated traffic — a large share of the requests this Site receives come from automated scrapers rather than from people. Where a visit matches the pattern we use to recognise them — a request from a network we see that activity on, arriving without any referring link — we load no analytics for it and set no analytics cookies. This only ever means less measurement, never more, and it does not apply if you arrived from a search engine, a social network or any other link.
To apply the right rule we check your approximate country from your network connection. That check is made against our own hosting provider (Cloudflare), the result is not shared with anyone, and nothing is written to your device unless analytics is permitted where you are.
We also honour the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. If your browser or a browser extension sends GPC, we treat it as a refusal and load no analytics at all, wherever in the world you are.
How to manage your cookies
You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the button below. Rejecting analytics stops Google Analytics immediately on the page you are on — you do not need to reload — and we also remove any Google Analytics cookies already stored in your browser.
